London trio Dream Wife’s third album, Social Lubrication, is LOUD WOMEN’s June album of the month.

With each singles release, Dream Wife delivered nonstop hits. Social Lubrication is an album that perfectly blends fun art rock that doesn’t hold back on analyzing the political landscape of today. Dream Wife fights the patriarchy with clever lyrics and dance anthems.

Dream Wife shares the following about Social Lubrication

“…Hyper lusty rock and roll with a political punch, exploring the alchemy of attraction, the lust for life, embracing community and calling out the patriarchy. With a healthy dose of playfulness and fun thrown in.”

Social Lubrication is a self-written / self-produced work of art from this compelling trio. This album would fit in the 2000s era of glitchy art rock (e.g. CSS and Yeah Yeah Yeahs of course) and stands out within the current music scene.

“Music is one of the only forms of people experiencing an emotion together in a visceral, physical, real way. It’s cathartic to the systemic issues that are being called out across the board in the record. Music isn’t the cure, but it’s the remedy. Calling the record Social Lubrication harks to that. It’s the positive glue that can create solidarity and community.”

Alice Go – guitarist + producer

Social Lubrication is an album that shows off the many layers of Dream Wife. ‘Hot (Don’t Date A Musician)’ is a playful track where Dream Wife makes fun of themselves and others:

Versus the surprising, yet sweet, moment of the album, ‘Mascara’ – a nostalgic track that would easily be on a film soundtrack from the 80s.

The latest single/music video from Dream Wife, ‘Social Lubrication’,  is the perfect representation of the album AND Dream Wife.

The band shares the following about the title track:

“Exhausted. Done with being polite, done with sugar coating, placating, and pandering to patriarchal bullshit. Wanting to just exist, in this body without being pigeon-holed or judged for the bodies we exist in. Do the job well. Show up. Not play other people’s games. You can’t fix something rotten to the core – we need revolution not reform.”

The self-made video is inspired by the album’s artwork and the opening sequence from Yellow Jackets.

Social Lubrication is Dream Wife’s best LP released (so far…). We can’t wait to see what’s next for this trio.
