With original art dripping in nostalgia, Joanna Sternberg‘s video for ‘I’ve Got Me’ is a healing journey from painful adolescence to an affirmation and celebration of the self.
Fueled by the many artistic inspirations of their family and New York upbringing, Sternberg’s latest release on their new label, Fat Possum, is absolutely oozing with creativity. Following a folk acoustic backing, Sternberg poetically weaves a lilting mantra of acceptance alongside a raw honesty on the struggles of mending oneself. This combined with the vulnerability held within their colorful illustrations makes their authenticity absolutely palpable on this track. It’s like a trip through someone else’s diary, that after being shared with you, makes you feel more whole and understood. And in the climate of 2023, it’s a welcomed treasure.
Joanna Sternberg is currently performing a Union Pool residency in New York, beginning their own tour dates across select cities in the U.S. this April, and have a projected June 30th release for their album also titled I’ve Got Me.
After a video introduction this potent, the artistic possibility for this album is something you won’t want to miss so mark your calendars!
