Our track of the day today comes from Derry’s Roe: ‘Destroyer’ is an emotional whirlwind of a pop song. Following up to ‘Cruel’ which we couldn’t stop singing for weeks, Roe is making a strong name for herself as a rising star of a songwriter.
Roe collaborated with fellow NI songwriter Ciaran Lavery on this song, his low vocals adding a warm balance, and adding to the cinematic storytelling of the song. I do hope there’s a video coming for this one!
“Destroyer is knowledge of being in something deeply unhealthy, but simultaneously holds a power over the controlled. I feel the song attempts to capture that inner and outer conflict that prefaces the questioning of leaving someone.”
