The bar is on the floor
don’t have to buy me flowers or hold the door
it’s enough that you just listen when I talk
cos no man’s ever done that before
Our track of the day comes from Hertfordshire teen Sophie Odira: ‘Little Love’ is a gloriously tongue-in-cheek look at male/female relationship dynamics, where ‘the bar is so low that doing the bare minimum gets you endless praise’. An inspirational self-esteem-raising anthem from a clearly very talented young songwriter.
“I know that a lot of people relate to that first verse, but I want people to listen and realise that’s not the be all and end all of love and relationships,” Sophie explains. “You don’t have to get into a relationship for the sake of it, or be in one which doesn’t serve you how it should be. It’s okay to be on your own.”
