Piney Gir as an artist has one foot firmly in her North American birth-home, and another solidly planted in her made-home of the UK. Her transatlantic stylings are particularly pronounced on this single, where the lilting, country-tinged vocal harmonies waft on a choral cloud above the crisp, almost military drums, unfussy guitar, and world of psychedelic noise play. It’s like Carol King fronting The Beatles.
