Electro-pop superstar Brodka looks set to be the Lady Gaga of Poland. ‘Game Change’ is the first single from her soon to be released album Brut. The video has the vibe of influential silent film of 1927 – Metropolis. The story within the song is no less remarkable being about gender roles in society; a topic that’s particularly prevalent in her home-country of Poland at the moment, where reproductive rights are being rolled back by lawmakers. Brodka states:

While making the video for ‘Game Change’, I was inspired by the story of the Albanian Sworn Virgins. Women who, by taking a vow of chastity, take on a male role in society while gaining all the privileges associated with being a man. They are treated as men but can keep their feminine names.

Out now on Pias.
