Rosa Bordallo: Citadel – track of the day

Today’s track of the day comes from Chamoru-American artist Rosa Bordallo (f.k.a. Manett, and member of post-punk band cholo) – riot pop anthem ‘Citadel’. Bordallo says of the song:

“‘Citadel’ is about Capitalist vultures in the concrete jungle. A balls-to-the-wall angry eff you to the 1-percenters who suck us dry. I wrote this out of frustration with the myth of New York (‘if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere’) that attracts bright and ambitious folk who may not realize what they’re getting into until it’s too late.”

This is the second single from her forthcoming solo debut album ReefWalker, which is out Friday 18 October from Time Castle Recordings. Preorder here.
