Maggie Lindemann took to the main room of Birmingham’s O2 Institute as part of her ‘I Feel Everything’ tour and it made for a very entertaining Sunday night.
Maggie last graced Birmingham with her presence back in 2022 and was in the smaller, 2nd room of the same venue so it was nice to see her growth and whilst the room wasn’t quite sold out, it was pretty damn close. ‘casualty of your dreams’ was introduced by Maggie with a mention of 2 girls who came to her meet and greet who promised a mosh pit for the song which never quite made it off the ground. The audience was female strong and you could feel the room fill with feminine angst as the night went on. ‘i don’t belong here’ slowed the setlist down and the audience calmed with it. Whilst the room was on the quieter side, you could tell that they we’re still with her.
‘take it away’ demonstrated off the true potential of her vocal power. She has a beautiful voice that is shown off throughout the 26 song setlist and her cult following meant she held the room in the palm of her hand; clapping and jumping whenever she requested. Some cheers from the crowd in the earlier half of the show left a lot to be desired but there were definitely moments of reassurance that they were with our Texan host from time to time.
Songs like ‘novocaine’ and ‘Knife Under My Pillow’ was where this mob really found their own voice, getting louder as the setlist continued on and a mention of her first EP ‘Paranoia’ received a massive scream, showing the excitement in the room. The second half of the night held much more energy and made it clear that this was what everyone was here for when compared to the first half. Every member on stage had their moment to show off what they do and how well they do it. Maggie ends on the tour title track ‘i feel everything’ and it rounded off the show nicely.
