LOUD WOMEN Fest compilation EP to be released on 7″ vinyl by Punk Fox Records

PF_sleeve_smallIndependent label Punk Fox Records is set to release a limited edition 4-band split EP this Autumn on 7” vinyl, featuring 4 of the top bands playing at this year’s LOUD WOMEN Festival

The record will be available from 15 September 2018 to coincide with the LOUD WOMEN Fest on 15 September, to be held at London’s Dome at Tufnell Park

The EP features 4 of the festival’s most exciting punk women-led bands, namely:

  • Dream Nails – “punk witches from hell here to hex the patriarchy”: a London all-grrrl 4-piece who have established themselves as queens of the DIY punk scene in the 3 years since their first gig (which was also the first ever LOUD WOMEN event), fresh from storming sets at Rebellion and Boomtown Festivals.
  • Ms Mohammed – “clit rock”: an awesome artist, recently featured in The Guardian following a stunning headline set at this year’s Decolonise Fest.
  • You Want Fox – “a shot of adrenaline to the UK music scene”: a Nottingham duo playing ‘glamorous punk and sleazy garage’, hotly tipped.
  • Guttfull – “dirty sax punx”: London’s queercore heroes – set to launch their debut album this Autumn.

The EP has received airplay by John Kennedy on Radio X. (Listen again here.)

Records will be available for sale at LOUD WOMEN Fest on 15 September at London’s The Dome, and thereafter via Rough Trade.

  1. […] We are SO looking forward to welcoming to LW Fest after last year’s performance at Matchwomen! How do you feel  you’ve grown/changed/developed as a performer in the year that’s passed?  Thank you so much for having me again! I’ve had an interesting year! A real emotional roller coaster, lots of big changes personally and lots of therapy but best of all, some insane validation from some of my idols recently! Namely Iggy Pop playing ‘Pandora’ on his BBC 6 show, along with his effusive praise. I’m still in shock really, it’s the ultimate validation from a total don of punk rock! You can’t help but be more sure of yourself when Iggy approves! Give thanks! Hopefully that translates into more self confident performances and therefore more fun for the audience. What can we look forward to from Ms Mohammed – any recording plans? Touring? World domination?  I’m eager to get back into the studio to record new songs! I would love to tour Europe and Yes please to World Domination, which for me means sharing platforms, pulling others up and solidarity with femme artists of colour. World Domination for us all! Who are you looking forward to seeing play at Loud Women Fest? OMG so many but Dream Nails, Sister Ghost and Art Trip and the Static Sound! Melodie is a formidable badass on stage! Loved her and the band since having them on at Clit Rock [the female-focussed festival run by Ms Mohammed in aid of anti-FGM charities]. Tell us anything else you think it’s important we know about you/your music! We live in times of rising xenophobia, hate crimes and general far right fukry! Immigrants, POC and people of muslim heritage are being vilified by mainstream press, powerful politicians and media personalities. Much of this is going unchecked and it is really worrying. It’s the reason I started performing under my real last name. We all need to do what we can,  be LOUD, be the solution, lead by example and maybe just maybe we can change paths to something more harmonious and soon… Catch Ms Mohammed live at LOUD WOMEN Fest on 15 September. Her single Pandora also appears on the LOUD WOMEN compilation EP 7″ purple vinyl, available to pre-order now. […]
