Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and musician V Torres releases her sophomore album, Woman.

A reflection on a transformative decade, Woman is a roadmap of Torres’ journey through heartbreak, grief, identity, expectations placed upon women and the many roadblocks encountered along the way. The album embraces perseverance, uncertainty and that spark of hope that things will work out in the end.

Independently released and co-produced with longtime friend and collaborator Steve Aguilar, Woman marks a new chapter for Torres.

“Being able to record this as a co-producer with my friend Steve Aguilar was such a gift. I learned so much about myself, the process, letting things be, surrendering to divine timing and trusting my ears. It feels like this is the start of a new musical journey for me and I am excited to see where it takes me. I hope people dig into the record, listen to it from start to finish and realize that they are going to be okay.”

The soundscape of Woman moves through waves of indie rock, Americana and psychedelia, balancing intimate ballads with bold, gritty anthems. Across the album, Torres captures the contradictions of growing into yourself while letting go of the pressure to have everything figured out.

At its core, Woman is about letting go of expectations and allowing yourself to grow through life’s experiences, taking the good with the bad. The other side of heartbreak can be freedom, grief can eventually give way to joy, and an ending can become a new beginning.

“Being a woman now means allowing yourself to just be rather than just perform. It’s being more powerful, more emotional, more experienced, and more aligned with yourself instead of trying to fit someone else’s expectations.”
