LOUD WOMEN is thrilled to premiere babename’s new music video, ‘Charles I’.

Seattle-based indie band babename is led by trans artist Jamie Averley, whose debut album Highlights was released earlier this year. Exploring themes of identity, transformation and claiming personal power, the album blends jangly riffs and jazz-inflected sounds with endearing, heartfelt vocals.

‘Charles I’ brings those themes to life, capturing the moment of finally stepping into your power.

“Charles I plays with the idea of witnessing someone stepping into their power, unsure perhaps if what you’re seeing is about to become greatness or folly. We knew with the video that we wanted to take the “goddess or queen” motif from the song to explore these different sides of power and see what happens when they collide. The band plays the observer role, interceding between the audience and our forest fantasy power struggle, asking who’s watching who? and who really is in control? The video was brought to life with co-directorship and production by multi-media artist Jack Mozie and babename’s lead guitarist Dylan Schillinger.”
