Melbourne pop-rock star Terra Rouge, aka Brianna Brady, shares ‘UR THE MAN’, our single of the week.
A wild ride of heartbreak, infidelity and self-discovery, ‘UR THE MAN’ is an anthem about knowing your self-worth and letting your true self come to light, with sharp lyrics and angst-fuelled guitars. Terra Rouge shares:
“I wrote this single as a satirical commentary on my ex’s behaviour. The rose-coloured glasses he put on my head convinced me I was dating the love of my life.”
‘UR THE MAN’ tells the ironic story of ‘the other woman’ exposing Terra Rouge’s ex’s infidelity, before confessing her own attraction to Terra Rouge.
“I believed this situation had too much poetic irony not to write a queer anthem to both demean him and celebrate coming out as a lesbian after the break-up.”

The single also marks a shift in Terra Rouge’s songwriting process, becoming more collaborative.
“The creation of ‘UR THE MAN’ was a momentous step in my journey as a solo artist. It was the first time I took a half-finished song to my producer to collaboratively write and create the finished piece together. Usually, I write everything independently before bringing it to life with my live band, but this song leaned much further into the pop side of my pop-rock sound, so I wanted to build it differently.”
