Punk herstory is still being made, and LOUD WOMEN is thrilled to be part of it!
This Sunday 1 November, LOUD WOMEN joins the Up Yours! Collective at London’s Museum of Youth Culture for a special day of DIY creativity, feminist punk history and making some noise.
It’s all part of God Save the Queens, the landmark exhibition celebrating 50 years of women in punk, honouring the trailblazers who changed music forever and the generations of women who continue to challenge the rules, pick up instruments and make things happen on their own terms.
Make your own noise!
LOUD WOMEN founder Cassie Fox will be running Make Your Own Noise, a free, informal DIY zine-making workshop inviting you to unleash your inner punk.
Come along, make a zine, write your manifesto and manifest your dream band!
What would your band be called? What would you sing about? What would you change about the music industry? What do you want to shout from the rooftops?
No musical experience required. Just bring your imagination, your ideas and a willingness to get creative.
LOUD WOMEN herstory on display
We’re also incredibly excited to be unveiling a special selection of LOUD WOMEN archive material, including photographs by Keira Anee capturing moments from LOUD WOMEN Fests over the years.
From our grassroots beginnings to an international community of musicians, artists, organisers and fans, the archive celebrates the women who’ve helped make LOUD WOMEN what it is today.
Being part of God Save the Queens feels particularly special. Punk has always been about creating your own opportunities, finding your people and refusing to wait for permission. That’s exactly the spirit that drives LOUD WOMEN.
We’re proud to stand alongside the pioneering women whose stories are being celebrated at the museum, while helping to write the next chapter of that herstory.
