Vanishing Twin return with their new album, Archives.
The trio, led by founding member Cathy Lucas alongside Valentina Magaletti and Susumu Mukai, step out of their comfort zones on Archives. While Lucas relocated to rural France and Magaletti and Mukai remained in London, the three connected through a virtual studio space, swapping songs and fragments of instrumentals and building on each other’s ideas. The result is a creative hivemind, with each piece becoming part of something larger.
Built on collaboration and improvisation, the album came together through a process of gathering material, listening, editing and reshaping ideas until they began to form a story. Lucas describes the process as “gathering material together, riffing with it, turning it around on itself, trying to put the pieces together and create a story with it.” Archives is the most personal and up-close look into the collective mind of Vanishing Twin.
