Toronto, the secret’s out.
We’ve been keeping one name under wraps since we announced our first ever LOUD WOMEN Fest Toronto, and now we can finally reveal that Chinese Medicine are completing the lineup at Baby G on Friday 6 November.
The Toronto band are fronted by Juno Hailey, who has also been working alongside Shiv Carver to help build this Fest with us locally, so it feels particularly right to finally get their name onto the poster.
Chinese Medicine bring together post-punk, hardcore, garage rock and queercore, with politically charged songs that don’t exactly tiptoe around the subject matter. Their EP The Trans Agenda takes on trans identity, self-acceptance, anger and resistance, while ‘Total Happiness’ brings another bit of the Toronto connection into the mix with a guest appearance from Shiv and the Carvers.

Chinese Medicine + Enfants Sauvages + I, Doris + Iris Marlowe + Morgan-Paige + SHY FRiEND + Stress Dolls + Sunlust
It’s a properly international bill, bringing artists together from Toronto, Québec, Calgary, Buffalo, Chicago and London for our first ever LOUD WOMEN Fest in Canada’s biggest city.
And crucially, it hasn’t been planned from thousands of miles away with a pin stuck in a map. Juno and Shiv have been helping us build the Fest from Toronto, bringing their knowledge of the local scene, the bands and the city into the whole thing.
That’s exactly how we want LOUD WOMEN international Fests to work: local scenes working together, artists connecting across borders, and brilliant bands finding new audiences.
