Meet Gemma Rogers, joining us at the LOUD WOMEN 11th birthday party at the Hope & Anchor on Saturday 10 October.
Gemma makes the sort of songs that get stuck in your head before you’ve even realised what they’re saying. Razor-sharp storytelling, irresistible indie-pop and punk hooks, plenty of wit and absolutely no interest in pretending the messy business of being human is neat or straightforward.
Coming out of Walthamstow with a sound that pulls in pop, ska and new wave, Gemma has a knack for turning big feelings, bad decisions and political frustration into songs you can actually dance to.
Her latest single ‘Molly_1989’ is the newest addition to a catalogue that includes No Future, ‘A Million Brilliant Things’ and ‘Words Fail’, all full of the sharp lyrics and huge hooks that make her such a brilliant live performer.
You can dig into more of Gemma’s music over on Bandcamp, or find everything else through her official website.
Come and see Gemma Rogers at the LOUD WOMEN birthday
Gemma joins Alexandra Leaving + Lola Pony + I, Doris + Pisces downstairs at the legendary Hope & Anchor for birthday number 11.
It feels like exactly the right bill for us: five very different independent artists, one tiny London basement and eleven years of putting more women and non-binary artists on more stages.
