Babehoven – the Hudson, NY-based band of singer-songwriter Maya Bon and producer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Albert, release heartfelt album I See Them, I See Me.
Built around the concept of a “parallax view”, the album explores different perspectives on the same reality, considering our perception of what it means to be seen and how we view the world, even when everything feels grim.
The duo created the album with three different engineers across four studios: Sam Evian, Kevin Copeland and Phil Weinrobe, who also acted as a co-producer. The result captures some of the rawness of Babehoven’s live performances, with folk-rock intertwined with indie and alt-country.

I See Them, I See Me was made in the aftermath of Bon’s right vocal cord paralysis, which occurred during Babehoven’s first headline tour in 2024. After being told she might never recover and being unable to sing, returning to music brought a renewed sense of gratitude.
“I have so much gratitude now that I am able to sing again. To not only sing, but to sing with joy. I think part of the idea of ‘having fun’ with this album is trying to really enjoy what we can do, the gifts we have.”

At its heart, I See Them, I See Me reflects on the power of perspective, with Bon concluding with this thought: “We get to choose how we view the world around us.”
