Beloved Meanjin-based, Australian rock quintet ‘Worm Girlz‘ have already establish themselves in the new era of alt rock. Politically-charged sound, proudly and uncompromisingly themselves, approaching music with joy and humor. With their self-titled debut album they were ready to take on the world.
Their upcoming EP ‘In Loving Memory Of..‘ , however, takes a step back to look at the past. It promises to be an intimate exploration of being haunted by the past.
“I always find it weird visiting my hometown. I often wonder about the parts of myself I have left behind there and if the memory of me haunts people the way they haunt me.”
Vocalist Jade on ‘Broken Tooth’
‘Broken Tooth’ is out now, through habit music, ahead of the EP. It’s a powerful, haunting track that starts with a stripped down bass and vocals intro, setting a confessional tone for the song before the sounds opens up into a powerful track. I particularly enjoyed the dynamic soaring vocals and melodic lead guitar riffs. The lyrics contemplate leaving things behind, refusing to let go and being unable to forget.
‘ In Loving Memory Of…’ releases 28th October 2026. I’m looking forward to total world wide worm domination.
