Brooklyn-based band Trophy Wife return with their sophomore album, Pathetic.
Fronted by vocalist and songwriter McKenzie Iazzetta, alongside Christian Pace on bass, Mena Lemos on guitar and Michael Martelli on drums, the grunge and alt-rock outfit continue to explore identity, self-perception and the struggle to make sense of yourself through a distorted lens.
Reflecting on the album, Iazzetta says Pathetic “feels like trying to figure out what you actually look like but you only have a funhouse mirror. It’s more self-conscious than cathartic, taking time to put the blame back on me.”
Alongside the album, Trophy Wife also share the focus track, ‘Alone’, a moody confessional that peels back another vulnerable layer while retaining the band’s raw, grunge-edged bite.
