Salt Lake City-based singer-songwriter Josaleigh Pollett returns with their fourth album, If I Let It Quiet, produced by long-time collaborator Jordan Watko.
A transcontinental album shaped by distance and an unbreakable bond, If I Let It Quiet was created across 8,000 miles after Watko relocated to Japan. The result is an intimate record that explores the spaces between people, places, and emotions.
“This album is an exploration of what it takes to quiet the noise of geographical and emotional distance in order to hear ourselves and the ones who see us. In true independent DIY fashion and similar to 2023’s In The Garden, By The Weeds, If I Let It Quiet is recorded mostly at home between my Salt Lake City makeshift home studio and Jordan’s apartment in Japan. The difference this time is that we’re bringing in more collaborations. In particular, Andrew Goldring, who in addition to mixing and mastering, brought deeper instrumentation to If I Let It Quiet.”

From the opening notes of ‘Shed Piano, Birds’, Pollett immediately draws listeners into the quiet, reflective world of the album. The textured recordings capture the feeling of being present in the room during the creative process, with each imperfect detail feeling like a rough draft coming to life.
Each track flows naturally into the next, creating a collection that feels stronger as a whole. Following an impressive rollout of singles, If I Let It Quiet brings together those individual moments into a fuller picture of Pollett’s artistry.
While Chris Walla’s collaboration on ‘Bed Of Quiet’ adds another layer to the album, If I Let It Quiet, as a whole, captures the moody atmosphere of the 2000s indie era.
With If I Let It Quiet, Pollett explores what exists beyond the noise. There’s a steady hum throughout, particles of static drifting in the search for connection across distance.
