Fabienne Delsol is back with her fifth solo album, Indigo Red, out now through Damaged Goods Records.
Since releasing her debut solo album No Time For Sorrows back in 2004, Fabienne has been honing her unique ye-ye, 60’s beat-inspired pop. Indigo Red consists of a perfect mix of original material and cover songs, including ‘Le Premier Bonheur du Jour’ by Francoise Hardy.
The album opens with lead single, ‘She Is Gone’, a song that had me hooked instantly. It’s the kind of song that almost demands to be put on the soundtrack for a niche cult film – the kind only your coolest friends know about.
‘I Have Known Love’ is another stand-out track, somehow sounding hopeful, wistful, and slightly mournful at the same time. ‘Black Sheep’ is also noteworthy, not just because of its dramatic psychedelic sound, but because it features Fabienne’s son, Knox, on guitar. It’s definitely one of the tracks I kept going back to the most while listening to this album – the keyboards in the background provide such a perfect backdrop for the beautiful guitar work.
