London-based shoegaze band sadplanet share ‘please’, another glimpse of their forthcoming debut EP slowing down, out 10 September.
Comprised of Kyra Ho (vocals), Nick Rainey (guitar), Aiden Knowles (guitar), Jeff Baker (drums), and Dan Lawrence (bass), the band blend shoegaze, dream-pop, and indie rock into a hazy, immersive sound.
On ‘please’, sadplanet lean into an intensely dreamy, classic shoegaze aesthetic, ethereal and gauzy, forming a vortex of sound and emotion.
“‘please’ is about the kind of friendship that feels perfect, until it isn’t, It’s that slow realisation that all the red flags were there from the start, but you chose to ignore them because of how good it felt in the moment. There’s a real high in finding someone who just gets you, and the song lives in that rise and fall, ‘so far it’s up, so far to fall.’ It’s about the comedown from that intensity, and the mess that’s left when it all unravels.”
