Brooklyn-based five-piece Ok Cowgirl announce their new album Rhinestone Cowgirl, out 21 August via Easy Does It Records. Alongside the announcement, the band shares the lead single and video, ‘Prepared To Lose’.
On ‘Prepared To Lose’, a sparkling preview that shines with grit and sincerity, Ok Cowgirl find light within life’s darker moments. Vocalist and songwriter Leah Lavigne shares:
“This is is a song I wrote about dealing with hardship. It’s a reminder that everyone has bad luck here and there. ‘I’m prepared to lose’ seems more pessimistic than my typical tone—and it almost felt uncomfortable to sing at first—but it just didn’t feel right to change it. After some time I grew to find it empowering. It’s about facing and accepting the unpredictable nature of the world, and how that acceptance makes room for a deeper sense of gratitude for the people we love and our small daily victories. So much of life is outside your control, sometimes all you can do is grit your teeth and “get through to another day.”
