LOUD WOMEN is delighted to premiere ‘Focus Disease’, the stark and quietly devastating new single from Swiss electro-wave artist Odd Beholder, taken from forthcoming album Honest Work (out 22 May).
This is a song that feels close to the bone – especially if your brain has ever refused to behave in a world that demands constant productivity. Built on a tense, pulsing electronic undercurrent, ‘Focus Disease’ simmers rather than explodes. There’s a low-level panic running through it – guitars that feel slightly off-kilter, rhythms that never quite settle – like a nervous system stuck in overdrive. Daniela Weinmann’s vocal sits cool and controlled over the top, which only makes the lyrics hit harder.

It lands somewhere between dark humour and genuine desperation. This isn’t a neat, sanitised take on ADHD or attention struggles — it’s about the pressure to function, to be productive, to fit into systems that were never designed with actual humans in mind. Medication becomes less about healing and more about survival. About buying back your own brain.
There’s something very LOUD WOMEN-adjacent in that framing — the refusal to individualise what are clearly systemic problems. ‘Focus Disease’ isn’t asking “what’s wrong with me?” so much as “what kind of world makes this feel necessary?”
As a preview of Honest Work, it sets the tone for a record that’s clearly interested in labour, pressure, survival, and the quiet negotiations we all make just to get through the day. Maybe don’t listen while doomscrolling.
