Viennese DIY-rock trio TOPSY TURVY release their second album Fighting the Ginormous Macho Nacho.
Comprising Resi (guitar, vocals), Lena (drums, vocals) and Vic (bass, vocals), the trio bring the psychedelic world of Fighting the Ginormous Macho Nacho to life through a vibrant mix of garage-punk, surf, and vintage rock influences.
The album’s title is drawn from a real-life encounter with a toxic touring musician the band crossed paths with in their hometown. “Macho Nacho” became a symbol of the misogyny they’ve experienced within the music industry.
“We never wanted to be really political, with really specific lyrics – but then it happened. We got really angry at the Macho Nacho. He just stands for a ginormous Macho Nacho energy in music, in the things we experience as female musicians.”

Alongside the album release, TOPSY TURVY share the music video for ‘The Wind’, with Lena on lead vocals. She shares the following:
“I listened to Kate Bush a lot at that time and wanted to write a song about something magical such as the wind. That was right after 2 weeks of touring through Europe and driving through pretty landscapes. I was longing to escape the city and fly with the wind.”
Fighting the Ginormous Macho Nacho is a fast and furious album with groovy beats and infectious energy.
