I bring to you Pussy Miel an eccentric punk rock band formed in Capbreton, France and their first EP Bee Raged, released 13th March 2026 via French label À Tant Rêver du Roi. A loud, rage worthy and unifying masterpiece made for screaming at a gig or in the shower since they are based in France.
Luckily we get to announce that they are coming to the UK in June of 2027! And sure it is quiet the while away but I can not wait to see the set they will bring to us! Or you can just take a quick flight to France as they have some exciting gigs planned this year!
Not sure if anyone else pays attention to the structure of EPs and albums but I find it an important part of story telling. Of course you might never listen to the whole EP in the right order after the release, but Bee Raged took me on a journey that I hope you also can recognise and experience. The opening track ‘Don’t Know’ is a rhythmic soundscape very clearly routed in the psychedelic, DIY scene in which the band met. Amandine brings grungy vocals which fit perfectly with the spice of rock that is heard through out, with both vocal and instrumental support from the other three talented women; Laura on guitar, Margot on base and Inès on drums.
Ironically it put me in a relaxing state of mind, until of course ‘COVID’ started playing. With its first lyrics being:
“The watch is ticking,
look around,
listen,
What do you think,
What do you feel,
Is it real ?”
It brought me straight back to reality. Luckily the melody is so electric that it compliments the deep and soulful lyrics perfectly in order to get you moving. Having been released a year ago we also get a pretty amazing music video starring Lucie Sue, another French female rock artist for whom Laura (guitarist) also plays the base for. This is actually how I came across this band, or more like how they found me since Laura initiated the conversation after I took photos for Lucie Sue at The Black Heart, in Camden.
There are many entertaining elements to this music video, one of them being the link back to their previous music video for the song ‘Porridge’ . Another, the fight against social norms and expectations that are not inclusive. But the one particular detail that caught my eye! Their socks! They say ‘Eat More Pussy’ just in case you didn’t catch it, which by complete coincidence is also their merch.
In the EP it is followed by songs ‘Lack of Understanding’, ‘Wasted’, ‘Don’t change me’ and the final ‘Délivré’ which was the only song I needed to use google translate to understand and be fully immersed in the story.
The ‘Bee’ part of the EP name is definitely starting to show its light as you put these titles together. They demand unity over shared experiences and act as a reminder that together we are much louder, just like a swarm of bees are much stronger together. I absolutely love this humorous perspective Pussy Miel takes on addressing hear-break, re-discovery and growth, it adds a light take on situations that are otherwise draining. And if you ask me the world would be a better place if we all were able to keep an open mind and work together.
