Halifax artist Ellur releases her debut album, At Home In My Mind.
At Home In My Mind is an intimate look into Ellur’s inner world, reflecting on her experiences growing up and the search for connection with others and within herself.
Shaped by musical inspirations from childhood to the present, the album draws on 90s indie rock, glitch-pop and alt-folk. Comforting vocals and relatable lyrics become a hand extended to anyone listening.
Speaking about the album, Ellur shares:
“‘At Home in My Mind’ is everything I wish I could’ve said when I was younger. It is all that I have come to understand about life and myself so far. All the songs touch on feelings and experiences that I only feel safe to explore and revisit in my music. It’s about self understanding and discovery. I’ve taken reference from my indie-pop roots (Sam Fender, Coldplay, The 1975) whilst also exploring my interests in the folk-rock sounds of Big Thief, Ben Howard, Bon Iver and alternative and glitch pop influences such as Radiohead and Dora Jar, Thom Yorke and Bjork. It is naturalistic and human, real and honest. This album is an arm extended out looking for people who need a hand to hold, over the creation process the songs have become about connection. I want people who are here for this to want to be with me for the long run.”
