Big Thief wrapped up the North American leg of their Somersault Slide 360 Tour at Houston’s White Oak Music Hall on November 7th. The band consisting of Adrianne Lenker (vocals, guitar), Buck Meek (guitar, backing vocals), James Krivchenia (drums, percussion), and new addition Joshua Crumbly as their touring bassist started the evening with with ‘Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You’ the title track off of their 2022 album of the same name. From there, the set moved effortlessly between new material, highlighting this years Double Infinity (‘Words’ was a personal favorite) and older tracks.

Adrianne Lenker anchors Big Thief, and watching her live you get how much of the band’s sound depends on her sense of timing and restraint. She’s mastered the balance between quiet moments and full energy. During quieter tracks like ‘Double Infinity’ and ‘Incomprehensible,’ it was like watching the band at a private rehearsal or in someones living room. Contrasted with fan favorites like ‘Vampire Empire’ and ‘Shark Smile,’ where she played the guitar harder, the band got louder, and the place came alive .
This was easily one of my favorite shows of the year. Meek got a huge cheer when he mentioned he’s from Houston and Lenker took a moment to thank the crew and introduce everyone who makes the show happen. Between the songs and the way the band connected on stage and with the crowd, it was a really special night.
Big Thief continue their world tour in Europe and the UK through June 2026.
