Kansas City duo Katy Guillen & The Drive release their sophomore album, Make That Sound.
Led by music and life partners Katy Guillen (vocals/guitar) and Stephanie Williams (drums), Katy Guillen & The Drive infuse their indie rock sound with garage rock grit, country warmth, and heartfelt lyricism.
With a focus on creating empowered spaces for women in music, Make That Sound was produced by Megan McCormick (Allison Russell, Amythyst Kiah).
“Having never worked with a woman in the studio, that’s something we wanted to change on this record. We wanted more female energy, ideas, and power to influence this album.”
Katy Guillen
Make That Sound unfolds in layers, exploring love, empowerment, and loss. The album mirrors real life: multifaceted and unpredictable.
“The recording process was dense and fast. It required being totally present, trusting our initial instincts, and pushing into some uncharted territory at times.”
Stephanie Williams
“In creating this album I felt particularly inspired by the countless strong and important women in my life, the love that I’ve grown with my partner, and the strength I’ve gained from digging inward through challenging times.”

Alongside the release of Make That Sound, the duo share the music video for the heart of the album, ‘Love You For All Time’.
“Written for the love of my life [Steph]. It’s about staying strong together through the distractions and outside forces that may test our relationship. No matter what, I’ll love you for all time.”
