A LOUD WOMEN spotlight interview with heavy trio Le Rox, ahead of the Halloween launch of their debut EP, Homesick.

Who’s in the band, and what do you all play?

Laura – vocals, Omi – drums, Steffan – guitar, James – bass

Where do you call home?

We are based in London but we from UK, Brazil and Venezuela

Describe your sound in three words.

Loud, Hard, Emotional.

Tell us about your latest release.

It’s our debut EP. We put a lot into getting this where it is today. It’s vulnerable and packs a punch.

What’s your local scene like — and how do you fit in, or stir it up?

It’s pretty mixed, there’s a lot of different sounds and styles but most people know each other or have crossed paths at gigs. There is a lot of support.

If you could rip up the rulebook of the music industry, what’s the first thing you’d rewrite?

More opportunities for smaller bands, especially within festivals

What’s the wildest/strangest thing that’s ever happened at one of your gigs?

I’ve been pushed into the drum kit by an audience member before. It was kinda strange because it wasn’t really the vibe, I didn’t know wether to punch him in the face or laugh.

What’s the story behind a song of yours that fans really connect with?

‘Pain Relief’. It’s a journey through the struggles of a toxic relationship and toxic lifestyle, I think everyone has experienced that at some point.

What’s the biggest hurdle you’ve faced and how did you overcome it?

At the beginning, vulnerability. It’s really important to me that the songs are real. Sometimes it can be hard to open up and to share that publicly. I’ve become a lot more accepting of who I am, it’s taken time, I just try and ride with it now.

What’s the proudest moment you’ve had so far as a band/artist?

Being played on BBC Introducing Rock on Radio 1

What’s the strangest gig you’ve ever played?

We played a show in Southampton where everything went wrong – like everything. It was really painful to get through, we had some real bad luck on our side that day. I still cringe when I think about it.

What’s a dream gig or collaboration you must make happen before you die?

The Distillers. For me that was life changing music, definitely shaped who I am today. I’d die pretty happy if that happened.

Dream lineup: you + three other acts (alive, dead, or imaginary). Who’s on the bill?

Again The Distillers, an emo band that I love called Dead Poetic and The Dead Weather.

What’s next for you?

We are heading to Europe for the first time! and we are playing London on 31st October with some sick bands
