Dutch alt-rock artist Robin Kester shares her second album, Dark Sky Reserve.

Dark Sky Reserve follows Kester’s 2023 debut, Honeycomb Shades, where she reflected on her father’s cancer diagnosis and the early death of her uncle. On her second album, Kester’s sharp reflections turn inward as she navigates an existential crisis, lingering depression, and the effects of new ADHD medication. In the darkness of the night skies, Kester found herself.

“When I wrote the album, that’s why almost all of that was written at night where I felt safer and it was dark outside. I didn’t feel guilty about wasting my time because it was like bonus time – no one expects anything from you when it’s the middle of the night. I could see myself for who I am.”

Robin Kester’s Dark Sky Reserve is minimalist yet boundless, like the skies where she found clarity. By revisiting the past and looking inward, she discovers wisdom and a renewed strength that burns bright.
