Alexandra Leaving

London/West Midlands rising star Alexandra Leaving is back with new single ‘Gone Girl 2.0’ (out 24 Sept), and if her recent gorgeous live session on the LOUD WOMEN Radio Show is anything to go by, this one’s going to lodge itself in your head and refuse to budge.

Clocking in at just two minutes, ‘Gone Girl 2.0’ is a sharp, hooky burst of indie pop that manages to be both playful and quietly devastating.

“She’s not vengeful or venomous, in fact she’s quite indifferent and mostly bored,”

Alex says of the song’s character – a restless, curious figure that feels like both an alter ego and a mirror. Co-produced with Rory Padfield (better known for fronting a post-metal band), the track fizzes with wit and charm, powered by Alex’s self-effacing lyricism and a freewheeling sense of fun.

There’s no posturing here – just clever, confident songwriting that sounds like it was made with a grin. And that’s what makes Alexandra Leaving such a one-to-watch: she’s building her own world, inviting us in, and making it sound like the best house party you’ve ever accidentally found yourself at.

More music is promised before the year is out, but for now ‘Gone Girl 2.0’ feels like a level-up, a restless upgrade that proves Alex is very much in motion – and we’re running to keep up.
