Nashville’s Snooper drop new single ‘Pom Pom’ (from forthcoming album Worldwide, out 3 Oct on Third Man Records) and it’s two minutes of egg-punk frenzy, wrapped in cheerleader chants and a wink.
Frontwoman Blair Tramel has turned what was once a snide “cheerleader vocals” jibe into a full-blown rallying cry.
“Pom Pom is about being your own cheerleader… after cheering for other people for long enough, you reach a point where you learn to cheer for yourself”
And with that, Snooper hand you the pom poms and dare you to shout along.
The track is jerky, frantic, Devo-damaged fun — gym class whistles over scuzzy guitars and pogo-ready beats. The video pushes the absurdity further, with Tramel contorting herself through surreal cheer routines that feel equal parts aerobics tape and punk pep talk.
What makes Snooper so exciting is the balance: chaotic but sharp, silly but with teeth.
