moodlighting

LA-based duo moodlighting release Eraserhead baby, a whimsical EP that pays tribute to the memory and work of David Lynch.

Originally from Denver, moodlighting is the musical project of couple Alex and Sophie, who continue to evolve their sound with every release. Eraserhead baby is another unique addition to their discography.

Eraserhead baby takes its name from David Lynch’s cult classic film Eraserhead (1977). The opening track, ‘Eraserhead baby,’ is an original song from moodlighting. With the band’s signature twee pop and quirkiness, it fits within the Lynchian soundscape.

‘In Heaven (The Lady in the Radiator Song)’ is a cover from the Eraserhead film. moodlighting’s version leans towards shoegaze, mirroring the scene’s uneasy intensity.

‘Just You’ is a cover of the iconic Twin Peaks TV series song, originally featured in episode 9 of season 2 and later in Part 13 of the 2017 revival. Through a swoon-worthy dream-pop lens, moodlighting’s rendition of this love ballad makes the perfect closing track for Eraserhead baby.

The Eraserhead baby EP is a striking tribute to the creative complexity of David Lynch.
