North Carolina alt-rock four-piece Rainbow Kitten Surprise has happily floored us with their latest release, ‘Dang’, out via Atlantic Records.

Throwing caution to the wind, ‘Dang’ wildly embraces queer joy, love, and intimate bonds on this thrilling three-minute track. Frantically electric and exhilarating, this song is a perfectly timed summer uplift. Bumping bass, RKS’s signature time changes, and the call to zoom out and remember to love ourselves and our friends, this track feels like a hug from your bestie after a night out. Homing in on community and the band’s musical evolution, ‘Dang’ stands as a testament to the love for their fans and their fearless, sonic metamorphosis.

When we wrote this, we envisioned tracking it with Jay Joyce and it’s pretty legendary that actually came to be. Dang is loosely based on a performance that drew inspiration from ‘Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.’ The song is both an ode to some earlier RKS sounds and also a letter to the fans who have supported us through many iterations of the band.”

Adding yet another banger to their shimmering catalogue, ‘Dang’ dares to lift us from the darkness threatening to envelop 2025. Further extending their hand into the shadows, RKS created the Rainbow Kitten Surprise Fund, in collaboration with PLUS1, which donates $1 from every ticket sold on their Thanks for Coming Tour toward advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, mental health access, and food assistance.

If you’re into expansive music with artists that also put their money where their mouth is, Rainbow Kitten Surprise sublimely delivers.
