Raw, intense and enraged Danish punks Pleaser deliver high energy album Begging Guitars. This is not an autotuned pop album polished to perfection… it’s modern Riot Grrrl. Think iconic Le Tigre mixed with fresh hotshots Amyl and the Sniffers.
I love the thrashy energy of the title track, ‘Begging Guitars.’ Pleaser shares the following about the epic opening track:
“The song presents the subjects of letting go and not expecting or indulging in perfection from oneself or others.”
And what makes this album great is the lack of perfection in production. It captures a thriving live feel. You can almost sense a cramped bar packed with sweaty moshing bodies.
Breaking up the high energy of tracks like ‘Ride,’ and ‘Hey Girl’ is the slightly more tempered, ‘Pounding Chest.’ On this track Suo Fei and Annie Marie Nyvold, handling both vocals and guitars, deliver a sludgy riff reminiscent of early Sabbath, but counter it with softer blended vocals.
If you’re looking for a cohesive album delivering both aggressive and dynamic sound, check out Begging Guitars!
