Brooklyn rock band partygirl throw in everything but the kitchen sink to create their self-proclaimed maximalist sound. Hot off the heels of their previous single ‘fine, fine, fine’, their new release ‘clean’ is no exception.
Experimental jazz? Atmospheric dark pop? Orchestral rock? Yep. ‘clean’ brings it all, and more, into one explorative yet surprisingly cohesive track. The result is nothing short of electrifying.
partygirl bandleader Pagona Kytzidis brings an emotional intensity with her vocals that continues to grow throughout the song, pulling a wall of strings, guitar and drums with her.
“Through a psychedelic and jazzy wall of sound that transforms into a driving, orchestral rock song, ‘clean’ portrays the introspection of hitting rock bottom and the clarity found in promising to do better. The song weaves this story through fractured, sensory lyrics becoming definitive statements, time signature shifts, and an emotional string section.”

partygirl is one of the most interesting and transformative up-and-coming rock bands I’ve heard in a while. Keep your eyes peeled for their upcoming multi-release project I’m so charming, I forgot who I was, with the first EP out on 18th April.
