Berlin-based singer songwriter Lisa Akuah has released her third single ‘Urchin Man’.

Taken from her forthcoming album Golden Seams, ‘Urchin Man’ is a haunting Celtic, post-folk beauty of a tune. The song tells the story of the title character who lives in the depths of the swamps and only appears to a select few lucky humans in order to answer all of their questions. A bit like an oracle.

“Urchin Man is a creature that lives in the depths of a swamp among strange creatures like himself and items carelessly discarded by our kind. He lives a peaceful life, until curiosity and boredom bring him to the surface. Whoever happens upon him shall not fear him, though, as he is wise and kind. The Urchin Man knows the answers to all questions – and he will answer to whoever he encounters on his adventures outside his realm.”

Powerful vocals, drone synth-bass, distorted guitars and rumbling drums take you on a journey. It took me back to my childhood, having to listen to my Dad’s Clannad albums in the car. If you like Lankum then you will love this.
