Hana Piranha is back with new music, and we couldn’t be happier. This time with a cover of Britney Spears‘ classic ‘Toxic’, which hits home with raw energy and intensity.
Since the success of ‘Wingspan‘ (the band’s latest record), it’s exciting to hear this fresh offering.
The rock-infused rendition of ‘Toxic’ reimagines the original pop hit, with Hana’s fierce, commanding vocals slicing through the track and complementing the powerful instrumentation that adds a darker, edgier tone to the song.
The expert musicianship brings a fresh yet familiar feel, transforming ‘Toxic’ into an anthem of strength and liberation, not only honouring the original but amplifying its message in an unforgettable way.
In Hana’s own words:
“We chose Toxic because we felt it’s a song that we could really make our own. Britney’s story is a tragic and inspiring tale of mental health, abuse, and the resurrecting power of music.
It made me reflect on the shadow side of being a strong, successful woman and the barriers and stigma that our society still places on this.
However despite everything she went through, Britney is still unashamedly herself and I feel that is something to be admired.
This cover is a celebration of Britney and the astounding contribution that she has brought to feminism and the awareness of mental health.”
The music video is unashamedly fun, high-energy and with plenty of ‘brattitude’.
