Should I ever choose to pursue a career as a professional darts player, my entrance music for the Lakeside is now sorted.
Nell Bryden just dropped powerful new single ‘Cassandra’: a rousing feminist anthem for a woman scorned, unjustly ostracised, gaslit and demeaned.
“The mythical Greek Cassandra enchanted Apollo, who granted her the power of prophecy but, when she rejected him, Apollo sabotaged her with a curse that no one would believe her predictions. During the legendary Trojan Wars, she foresaw the Trojan horse, but her warnings were scorned. Cassandra represents women silenced by men, reclaiming her soul and body. This track is for women who have been made to feel crazy, or gaslight, or ostracised by their community”

My new personal themetune also comes with an album announcement. Covering themes of pregnancy, miscarriage, love, and womanhood, I Love You So Much I’m Blind (slated for 8 Nov) was written after Bryden received yet another devastating negative pregnancy test after IVF.
“My partner and I had already named our future child and I’d been quietly planning a nursery. With yet another failure I began realising how obsessively single-minded I’d become. The intensity of my desire to get pregnant had become a handicap, perhaps I was blinded by my extreme resolve. I’d had more blood drawn than I can remember. There were bruises all over my arms.”
