Delilah Bon has released the third single, ‘Evil, Hate Filled Female’, from her upcoming second album, and it’s the villainous, rage-filled feminist anthem of your dreams.
Describing her sound as “brat punk”, Delilah’s music combines influences from riot grrrl, rap, and nu-metal to create empowering and inspiring songs for anyone who has ever felt unseen or unheard.
This single, which also serves as the title track for Delilah’s second album, set for release in September, is inspired by a comment she received on Twitter – “Delilah Bon is an Evil, Hate Filled Female.” Delilah took this (ridiculous) idea and ran with it, sarcastically positioning herself as some sort of man-hating villain, while also pointing out just some of the reasons comments like this are, well, pretty fucking stupid.
The song starts with a sing-song tease of the chorus, before the guitar kicks in, backed by gunshot-style drums. Delilah’s vocals are at their strongest here, even throwing in deep metal-style grow which, combined with her rap vocals, reminded me a lot of early Otep. There’s an addictive energy to this song, and I imagine it’ll sound even more electric when performed live.
Delilah Bon’s second album, Evil, Hate Filled Female, is set for release on 13th September. You can also catch her on tour in the UK in October, dates below!
