The Beat-Herder Festival is happening 18-21 July - Dockbar Farm, Lancashire. Tickets here

The Beat-Herder Festival recently put out an impassioned statement about changes to the festival for 2024. After a series of other festivals called a fallow year this year, citing risings costs as the issue, Beat-Herder are taking a different approach: reducing the capacity of the festival whilst still keeping the vibe, the line up and ‘tubes, tunnels, flames, flags, bubbles, bells and whistles’ intact. They’re keeping the party going!

Unlike more commercial festivals, Beat-Herder allows you to bring in up to 24 cans, a box of wine or a bottle of spirits. When I was there last year, the bars, food stalls and merch were the cheapest I’ve seen. This festival isn’t looking to make money from you, they just want to make sure the party continues, so if you like dance music, take a look here.

I reviewed Beat-Herder for LOUD WOMEN last year and I can not wait to see what is on offer this year. With some big hitters on the main stage and over 20 female / non-binary artists and DJs, tt’s going to be a more intimate but beautiful party. Here are some of the acts I’m excited about…

Venbee

I wrote about Venbee last year, when she performed at Glastonbury and Beat-herder and I’m still as excited about her now. This year, the Brit award nominee is further up the bill and with her name in bigger letters on the poster. Her album Zero Experience was released this Spring and it’s been a firm favourite on my playlist.

Porij

Manchester based 4-piece Porij are sure to serve us a synthy, beaty and bassy set along with gentle vocals by Eggy.

Eva Lazurus

Eva Lazurus‘ musical flavours span across genres from Reggae to Hip Hop, DnB to Jungle and beyond! Eva & her crew are allegedly primed to pack a stage show jammed full of props and confetti canons.

A Little Sound

DJ and vocalist A Little Sound, aka Abigail Kate Morgan, won Best Vocalist at the Drum&BassArena Awards 2022.

Mandidextrous

Speed bass and Jungletek DJ Mandidextrous crosses all boundaries – I think this is going to be wild!
