What has changed for you over the past decade?

Music industry years are like dog years. So, that’s like 70 years!? I’m still playing the same telecaster so that’s the same… everything else has changed.

What are your thoughts on the music industry since the release of your debut?

I have so many thoughts! I’m a grown woman now, with experience under my belt. When I started in the industry I was 22. I think we’ve seen a ton of positive changes, more women making music and being appreciated in the industry for sure. But it’s a hard slog out there due to the inequalities in the system and the way it’s changing – especially if you’re working class. I want to see more working class bands have long-standing careers.

How does it feel to perform with Debbie and Anna versus originally as a duo?

Miles better. More fun.

Tour must have items:

Oh there are loads… I used to have a ton of tour hacks when I was on the road all the time. That’s changed quite a bit in the last few years. This tour is just a baby one, so some of the hacks aren’t essential… a sleep mask, hand sanitiser, this special spray called ‘Singers’ for sore throats… all very important but not very exciting!

Which song are you looking forward to performing live and why?

I’m really looking forward to playing ones that never got a chance to be put on a regular set list. Also, a couple of b-sides might get some limelight for once!

What’s next for Honeyblood?

Apart from supporting the Foo Fighters in June, I am making a new record. I’ve just finished tracking it, which is really exciting. I know I say this every time, but it really is the best thing I’ve ever made. It feels like a greatest hits of everything Honeyblood truly is at heart. I’ve had the pleasure of taking my time with this one which counts as a luxury these days.
