Danish vocalist Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjærg, AKA Sitrekin, mystifies audiences once again with a reimagining of her classic track, ‘As I Moved On’ from the acclaimed group Blue Foundation.
Created in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the track’s home album Sweep of Days, ‘As I Moved On’ has now revealed an even more beautifully somber core. Industrial-esque clatter opens the track as delicate whispers pick up speed and strengthen with the quickening tempo. Combining the introduction of her brooding electric style and signature, beckoning vocals, ‘As I Moved On’ is projected to a new dimension while also casting a net into an even wider pool of listeners. Sitrekin’s self-produced sonic realm shows a further emotional flourish behind the song and shares the evolutionary and dynamic relationships artists can have with their music as they both grow over time.
The anniversary release of ‘As I Moved On’ strikes the same chord it did when it first hooked me over 10 years ago; it still pierces my heart, just now at a faster pace. Sitrekin built from the bones of the original recording and breathed new life into it. And to be honest, is there a better way to have a re-release?
