Stockholm duo, GHLOW, has unleashed an electropunk buzzsaw of a track in their latest release, ‘Big City.’

Electric guitar from Nikolay Evdokinov opens the track with a garage-tinged screech, bringing ‘Big City’ to life and setting the rapid pulse for the rest of the track. Ominous, unwavering vocals from Emille de Blanche, however, set the tone. A steadfast warning that proclaims the hidden truth sketched on the face of every city, it’s all the same. Profoundly shattering the visage of big-city life escaping small-town problems, ‘Big City’ frankly shares how it’s all the same struggle, magnified. Ultimately, the song isn’t about escaping to somewhere new, but changing the mindset in which we let the uncontrollable or toxic affect us.

‘Big City’ is an auditory delight wrapped in punk perfection. The music and message expertly merge into a fusion of healing and resistance, a favorite combo of mine. So, if you’re looking for some heavy but inspiring punk this holiday season, GHLOW’s ‘Big City’ is here and will be followed by their album, Levitate, this Spring on March 8th.
