London-based Amelie Jat revs up the pop-punk attitude with ‘I’M OUT,’ a catchy proclamation of moving on following a failed relationship. Starting with a restless electric guitar and lyrics about escapism, it bursts into a chorus that functions as a middle finger up at the person who’s caused pain.
The song, originally appearing as the closer on the album CINEMATIC!, has been re-recorded and presented as the opening track on the latest album for the plot, out October 20. The accompanying video is a playful take on Western iconography with Amelie Jat dressed as a stylised cowgirl in the process of revenge, the overall aesthetic of the video being both sensual and eery.
‘I’M OUT’ marks the transition and creative evolution of Amelie Jat’s music this past couple of years, hence being rereleased with the album. For the plot is described by Jat as the soundtrack to her last two years and is therefore filled with personal anecdotes, relatable situations, and whirlwind emotions that turn us into stronger people.
