Memories of my adolescence include music from L7. I was too young to understand the road L7 was pioneering but I did get a sense of their fearlessness. As the years rolled on the band continued to make headlines. Well not much has changed in that regard. L7 has never been one to bite their tongue. Their new single ‘Cooler Than Mars’ puts all earth defectors on notice.
In the new track, they do not mince words. Donita Sparks points out “Billionaires fly into space and ego chase”. A pretty bruising synopsis of where we stand as a global community. Donita also points out the lunacy of treating Earth as a disposable cup we could toss and then duplicate on some terrestrial planet. The music video serves as a table table-banging reminder that life is beautiful here. Now… on Earth.
They say that a true friend is one that will tell you the good and the bad. Well, consider L7 your best friend because they are here to snap you out of it. We’re way cooler than Mars and it’s not even close. Mars doesn’t want us there. We need to get our heads out of outer space and heal our planet. Thank you L7.
