The indie collab of the decade just dropped. Big Joanie – longtime sheroes of the DIY scene, who are steadily catching the interest of the world and planting black feminist punk flags in the global music industry – teamed up with the planet’s actual coolest human Kim Deal, of Pixies and The Breeders fame, for a gorgeous new single, ‘Today’, out now on Kill Rock Stars.

On Bandcamp, the band say:

Whether through Pixies, Breeders, or her solo work, Kim has been a vital influence on us as a band and we’re so happy that she’s become part of the Big Joanie world.

Originally this was a song we were working on years ago that Chardine was going to sing on. I found the old demo while we were on tour and started writing new lyrics to the music with my laptop balanced on my lap in the tour van. I really love that it sounds like a classic C86 type lo-fi indie song.

Big Joanie, I salute you and gently weep into my tea as you tick off all of my own dream bucket list items.

Big Joanie are on tour in the US right now, and will be touring the UK and EU in the Autumn – catch them wherever you can – dates on the Big Joanie website
