Few bands have been as prolific in the past 12 months as LOUD WOMEN’s favourite Irish/Dutch dynamic duo Fräulein. Joni Samuels (vocals/guitar) and Karsten Van Der Tol (drums) hit the ground running as soon as we were all allowed out again, gigging relentlessly and releasing new singles roughly every 12 weeks since their official debut ‘Pretty People’ appeared at the end of April 2021.

Said singles have been leading up to the release of their first EP A Small Taste, available digitally from mid-May via their Bandcamp and on super-limited 12 inch vinyl from mid-August. We’ll review it in full a bit nearer to the release date – but for now, ‘(And I Go) La La La’ offers a small taste of A Small Taste, being both the lead track of their soon-come extended player and their 5th single in under a year.

The pair have been playing it live for a while – even before Joni wrote a lyric for it, she would sing ‘la la la’ until the words eventually fell into place – and it’s quickly become a fan favourite with its seductive, muted verses and a mighty singalong chorus that you don’t have to remember too many words to.   Slightly less complex and more commercial than most of its predecessors have been, Karsten’s crashing drums and Joni’s savage guitar attack and soulful voice have never sounded more radio friendly.

Is our Track Of The Day looking and sounding like a hit, pop pickers? Er, not ‘arf…

Follow Fräulein across all social media and please go to see at least one of their many live shows. A lack of disappointment is guaranteed…
