Rett Madison: Kerosene – track of the day

Today’s track of the day comes from LA’s West Virginia-born Rett Madison. Alt-country-power-pop ballad ‘Kerosene’ is out today and it’s an absolute mood, showcasing their stunning voice heartwrenching songwriting, with hints of their stated influences Fleetwood Mac, Norah Jones and [falls off chair] Sade. It’s blimming lush is what it is. The song shares Rett’s experience of discovering their sexuality in a homophobic environment: “You were raised on righteous love, I was brought up in a burning house.” They say:

“I try to be open about my queerness and those experiences in my music now, so that kids who may be living through similar”
